If you're an active sportsman or if you usually go to the gym twice, you've probably wondered more than once: how to remove the bad smell from sports clothes? How do I get rid of that (repugnant) tufo so annoying of sweat that it looks like it will be impregnated forever in our garments? We have good news for you: yes, it is possible to eliminate it and no, it is not impregnated forever. All you have to do is follow our recommendations.

First of all, for your peace of mind and self-esteem, you need to know that the bad smell has nothing to do with your personal hygiene and, of course, you're not the only one that's been through this. So serene, dark...

Now that you know that the bad smell has nothing to do with you, it's important to keep in mind that most sports parts are manufactured with advanced technologies that usually require much more care and maintenance than any kind of shirt that exists in your closet.

How to remove the bad smell from sports clothes?

Lee Silverman, CEO of the brand of detergent win, assures that the fibers of cotton T-shirts are rope shaped, with many corners and cracks, perfect for absorbing water and repelling sweat. On the other hand, sports garments are usually made from synthetic hydrophobic fabrics, so they do absorb body oils and reject water. This creates a breeding ground for bacteria that cause tufilloin to persist for longer. That's why it's not enough to buy a single detergent and put your gym clothes to wash in the hope that that'll do. What needs to be done is to follow a series of recommendations (which we will now give you) to ensure that all the bacteria that stay in the fabrics and cause the bad smell are removed once and for all.

First rule: separate the sports clothes from the rest so that they do not mix and "contaminate" the rest. It now follows the following recommendations:

  1. White vinegar: vinegar will help remove bacteria from the fabric and eliminate the bad smell. Mix a part of white vinegar with four parts of cold water and immerse all your training clothes for 30 minutes or an hour before washing. Another way to use vinegar is to add it to the washing process as part of detergents. Funny fact: this liquid will also help you get rid of red wine stains.

  2. Sodium bicarbonate: another great ally against bad smells. All you have to do is paste with sodium bicarbonate, warm water and then rub it. Leave the mixture overnight and then take it to the washing machine.

  3. Salt: dissolve several tablespoons of table salt in a bucket with warm water. Soak the affected garments and let them rest for half an hour. Then you can wash it like you usually do.

  4. Avoid softener: this liquid, when used in sports clothing, creates a kind of layer on the fibers that covers the bad smell and bacteria, preventing the garments from being completely cleaned.

  5. Sunlight: whenever you can, try to hang the newly washed clothes in the fresh air and under the sunlight, instead of taking them directly to the dryer (this device favors the odors, whether pleasant or unpleasant, to settle). The only thing you need to take care of is the color, because the sun rays vanish the color of the garments. Don't neglect your feet and also eliminate that bad smell.
