ART

Clorindo Testa. The blood speaks

The Kirchner Cultural Center, the Clorindo Foundation and the Italian Embassy in Argentina present an exhibition that celebrates the ties between the Argentine and Italian nations through design and art taking the figure of the Italian architect, artist and designer- Argentine Clorindo Testa as a paradigmatic case. Curated by the architects Juan Fontana and Oscar Lorenti, Il Sangue Parla, the exhibition explores various facets of the creator through drawings, paintings, installations, design, architecture and urbanism.

The selection of pieces that the exhibition brings together includes the production of disegno, a lesser-known facet in the Clorindo Testa corpus, a specific section of his artistic work dedicated to Italy —with a selection of canvases and drawings from the series La Peste en Ceppaloni and works related to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius—as well as models and drawings of some urban architecture projects in the cities of Milan, Rome and Florence.

The exhibition can be visited at the CCK (Sarmiento 151) from October 2 to November 7, 2021, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission is free, and only with prior reservation, which must be managed through this link.

Diego Fontanet in Cosmocosa

Cosmocosa invites you to the exhibition Diego Fontanet, a selection of works from the 80s. Curatorship: Cosmocosa. Text: Roberto Amigo.

Diego Fontanet, central and elusive to thinking about the art of the eighties, develops his own iconography arising from the imaginary of the periphery of capitalism and the what to do of revolutionary politics. Acrylics on paper, canvas or plate, their primary function is the banner –in a local tradition that includes, for example, Midnight in the World, by Antonio Berni– or the input for the steering wheel. Bad painting that could not be assimilated to the democratic party because the radical nature of the form was an integral part of the content, but neither to the correction of political art because punk subversion warned of the contemporary ineffectiveness of realism”, says Roberto Friend.

The exhibition can be visited, by appointment, until October 1, from Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

They are ambiguous objects, which dissolve historically opposed distinctions in the West such as art-craft, matter-spirit, object-subject, past-present, thus generating new modes of creation, relationship and consumption. In the sample you can see dolls-portraits made of various materials such as silicone rubber, plasticine, wax, plaster, stone clay, among other materials. This is the first of the three projects selected in the 2020 call for Impulso Cazadores.

You can visit in person without ticket reservation.

The installation, which is based on the sound and the visual, dialogues about the poetic dimension in the use of words that both universes possess. Science can represent reality through equations and theories, but it also reaches a metaphorical facet that can be appreciated in its own language. Wehbi and Álvarez investigate metaphor, ways of saying, how, why, and the poetic charge of phrases and linguistic constructions typical of the scientific world and that art he appropriates it.

The treasures, at Wunsch Gallery

Like pearls hidden in the sea, precious stones sheltered in pieces of coal in ancient caves or the shells that accumulate in the rocks after accompanying the journey of the waves in the ocean, it gathers at the bottom of a house-gallery in the Palermo neighborhood, a collective of women artists who show their treasures in the form of liberating, terrifying, perverse and mystical manifestations. A personal entanglement or a self-help group. Like the superheroes that clash their rings to complement their forces, their bodies and elements, each proposed space belongs to one and the other, creating links in a chain or molecules of punk and anarchic DNA.

The Treasures exhibition is a project that brings together female artists such as Alejandra Rovira Ruíz, Fabiana Barreda, Jimena Brescia , Natalia Forcada, Natacha Voliakovsky, Sofía López Mañan and Lulú Jankilevich, who in turn He curates the exhibition. This exhibition will be open until November 5 and can be visited by appointment, requesting an appointment by email n info@wunsch.com.ar or via WhatsApp at +54 9 11 4094 2576.

Through the glass: Figures of omission, by Iumi Kataoka, by the OSDE Foundation

The virtual activations and their supports are the starting point of this cycle in which the idea of glass is expanded: glass as the limit between the internal space of the showroom and the street, and liquid crystal in the case of electronic devices.

Figures of omission is a staging that explores the notion of memory as a form of representation and the architectural space as an exhibition device. The installation is transformed into a fictitious memorial made from images and tracings of fragments of an old heritage building on Suipacha street —where the Espacio de Arte operated for thirteen years— now located in this new room. Through an assembly operation, Iumi Kataoka performs interventions on documentary archives and architectural space. In his actions, he reconstructs different points of view using the installation in the space of large-format digital prints, archival backlights, drawings, and reliefs in plaster and aluminum. In his work, the notion of memory is proposed not so much as a reconstruction of a past that does not exist, but as a dynamic construction of a present that is updated.

Until October 10, from 8 to 21, at Arroyo 807, C. A. B. A., and virtual via YouTube.

Piazzolla 100

Homage exhibition to one of the most important musicians of the 20th century for the centenary of his birth. Born in Mar del Plata but raised in New York, Astor Piazzolla got to know tango from that suburb, between gangsters and music classes. The spirit that that city left him, his temperamental, explosive and stubborn character and a methodical and experimental training gave his work a programmatic and singular imprint, a network of sounds that were unlike anything else.

The exhibition, curated by Liliana Piñeiro and Natalia Uccello, is organized around key moments in Piazzolla's musical creation and the most relevant events of his life. Enriching their creative universe, the invited Argentine artists Carolina Antoniadis, Julián D'Angiolillo, Nicolás Varchausky, Mene Savasta Alsina, Valeria Traversa, Johanna Anouk Wilhelm, Axel Krygier, Augusto Zanela and Hernán Khourian< /b> They make installations that cross their artistic languages, revitalizing and revisiting Astor's legacy from different perspectives. Site-specific installations recreate —through images, climates, and sounds, from archives and records— different elements of the musician's work, which return today as a legacy and as an input for new forms of creation.

When the world changes. Questions about art and feminisms

Intersectional feminism addressed the legacies of slavery in Latin America, of diasporas and massacres, colonial and contemporary. She not only analyzed the feminine but also the constitution of the masculine as interdependent pairs traversed, both, by social mandates and power relations. He thought, in advance, of domesticities and their dangers. Isolation left many women at the mercy of their attackers. It also revealed the multiple meaning of the house. The economies of care were made visible and roles were mismatched. Feminism brings together a critical matrix that proposes to rethink the ways in which we knew the world, instruments to understand contemporaneity, imaginaries for the future.

The works in this exhibition address such a state of affairs. Although they were made before the pandemic, they propose ethical, aesthetic, conceptual and political strategies from which we can think about everything anew.

The works of Aline Motta, Esther Ferrer, Joiri Minaya, Pau Delgado Iglesias and Sebastián Calfuqueo propose diverse feminism agendas, powerful in historical terms, urgent in contemporary terms . Curated by Andrea Giunta.

Visits: Wednesday to Sunday, from 2pm to 8pm (last shift at 7pm), until December 31.

Admission is free, and only with prior reservation, which must be arranged through the CCK website.

The Museum of the History of the Costume in coordination with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the support of the Center for Studies of Argentina-China (CEACh) organizes this temporary exhibition curated by Ignacio Villagrán, in virtual and face-to-face format.

Transductions: Choreographic Creation Residency Program

Contemporary dance in Buenos Aires and French philosophy

August - November 2021.

«We understand by transduction a physical, biological, mental, social operation by which an activity progressively propagates within a domain, founding this propagation on a structuring of the domain operated here and there: each region of constituted structure serves from the beginning of the constitution to the next region”, they express.

For more than seven decades, philosophy and the production of contemporary French thought have spread among the academic, psychoanalytic, militant, and artistic intelligentsia of the City of Buenos Aires. With its necessary and contingent distances and obstacles to circulation, acceptance or resistance, transformations and institutionalizations, appropriations and singularizations.

The program of Transducciones Choreographic Creation Residencies aims to specifically support, from the intellectual background located in the City of Buenos Aires with French philosophy, the production and development of contemporary dance from Buenos Aires, in its unique relationship with texts of contemporary French thought.

In a framework of cultural cooperation between France and Argentina, the program proposes the development of three choreographic creation residencies, run by Argentine artists, at the Centro Cultural de la Memoria Haroldo Conti from the City of Buenos Aires, who will work on three texts by contemporary French-speaking philosophers, translated and published in Buenos Aires by local publishers.

Each choreographer will hold a public opening of their work process at the end of their residency.

Resident artists: Diana Szeinblum / Silvio Lang / Jazmín Titiunik; theoretical advice: Marie Bardet (UNSAM- IDAES and IAMK/PARIS 8); general production: Haroldo Conti Cultural Center for Memory; artistic coordination: Damiana Poggi / Luciana Dáspolo (Conti Dance Area); general coordination: Silvio Lang. THEATRE

Oedipus in Ezeiza, by Pompey Audivert

The work that for four seasons was chosen by viewers, recognized by critics and which is the object of study in undergraduate and postgraduate university courses in arts, social and philosophy courses, now returns to the mythical Teatro Picadero.

Oedipus in Ezeiza is a work in which the characters take the form of an apparent family that tries to unmask the identity of the supposed infiltrated enemy. All data plays its role. The procedures are repeated, the roles are reversed and the versions of the same event are multiplied, breaking historical reality into a thousand pieces. The Ezeiza tragedy is one of the many triggers for this metaphysical comedy in which nothing is what it seems or what it claims to be. The political-historical allusions orchestrate an endless number of identifications, inviting the viewer to reflect on the national being and feeling.

Oedipus in Ezeiza participated and dazzled critics, the public and programmers of various national and international festivals.

Something about Ricardo

Opportunity you've waited your whole life for, but this time it's the cast and director who aren't up to the challenge, however, this won't be an obstacle stopping you from reaching the premiere, so your world will become a unfair place, where you have to kill to survive. But power brings loneliness. And discovering it will lead him to make a decision that will make him a fugitive from himself, leaving him trapped there where dreams will take place two meters above his head.

Pompidou

Pompidú is the story of Erica, a psychiatrically unstable young woman who lives a romance full of poetry, truths and innocence with a prince, who instead of a steed walks on bicycle. A prince named Inti (and who only exists in his head). Aunt Susana, who has taken care of Erica since her mother died and her father moved to Paris with his new family, is now ill. She will make the excuse that she must help a friend (because Susana lives for and for others and is incapable of showing herself vulnerable), so Érica will have no choice but to travel to Paris. When Inti finds out about her imminent departure, he tries to hold her back, stealing her pills so she doesn't stabilize and doesn't stop seeing him. Likewise, he builds a Paris for the two of them. An art-filled Paris where anything is possible. Inti is the voice of many truths. He says, denounces and evidences things that are true. But so much intensity will lead Érica to reach very high intensity peaks that will even put her life at risk. Author and direction: Catalina Piotti; Performance: Malena Ratner, José Giménez Zapiola, Eugenia Bonel.

Performances: Thursday at 8 pm, until October 28, in the Muiño room.

The seats can be purchased through Tu Entrada.

Dark nights

This show is made up of five thrillers by the award-winning Marcelo Galliano, directed by Daniel Cinelli. Each one of the stories, of impressive visual power and stark poetic, is a kind of anaerobic race that suspends the viewer's breath until the surprising end. Revenge to be committed, accounts to be settled and fears that are fatally embodied, are the irremediable obsessions of these characters who seem to move in a hyper-realistic but unpredictable world.

The work was declared by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires “Of interest for the promotion and defense of human rights”. From the time of World War II, through the Spanish Civil War, the American Civil War, the convulsed 1968 and the Latin American military dictatorships, there were songs that survive today, such as: "Ay, Carmela!", "Bella Ciao" , “I remember you, Amanda”, among many others. My son just walks a little slower

It's the birthday of Branko, a 25-year-old man who suffers from a progressive disease. This disease has him in a wheelchair. The public attends the movement that will take place around this event. We will see how the relationship system that is every family works. System that, just as at times it traps, at times also enables the uncapture of the disabilities of each of its members.

Branko's birthday is the plot excuse to spy on the close ties of a family. The work deals with the theme of “difference”. How is "difference" tolerated in the family plot? The family as a base matrix where they modulate encounters and disagreements. Modulations that reproduce life in community. In these ups and downs, the work allows us to read relationships of alienation in what is linked at the same time that it trusts that every system proposes fissures through which it is possible to breathe.

Written by Pacho O'Donnell and directed by Daniel Marcove, the play takes place in a closed environment, which is not a cell, with only a small skylight at the top. high. Four characters live there, Bill, Mónica, Diego and René, it is not known since when, it is not known for what reason. As the story progresses, with a curious humor, they will discover their fears, their frustrations and their desires. Traversed by memory in a virulent contradiction between what they really were and what they dreamed of being. An unexpected event confronts them with the universal dilemma, which affects all of us, of choosing between a threatening and unpredictable freedom or a maddening but predictable hell.

Red edges on your skin were left

This piece deals with two monologues crossed by music and shadows.

Estelita says goodbye to her profession: “being a page turner” at her childhood teacher's concerts. She walks back in memory of her to evoke the love she felt for her teacher. Death appears as an omen that borders the notes of the staff. Like a shadow that crosses the silhouette of her teacher and Estelita in the mirror.

The Little Man will give a piano concert after many years of being retired. Nerves explode. The presence of his mother in a wheelchair unsettles him. I didn't expect to see her there. He begins to play and makes a mistake, everything falls apart like a blurring landscape. You enter the mind of Little Man and his deepest fears, while the dissonant chords merge into a scream. Dramaturgy: Dario Bonheur; directed by: Eloísa Tarruella; performance: María Nydia Ursi-Ducó.

From September 19 to October 31. Shows: Sundays at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased through Alternativa theatrical for $500.

Juana La Loca, by Pepe Cibrián Campoy

Directed by Ana Padilla and starring María Seghini, Juana la Loca is a romantic epic about one of the most famous women of history. Her prison for more than forty years was her paradise, for there she flew a pure soul surrounded by the cruelty and ambition of men.

Juana la Loca talks about madness, unrequited love, the brutal passions of power and the magic of manufactured desire.

Las cautivas, by Mariano Tenconi Blanco and the Teatro Futuro Company

A thug breaks into a wedding and kidnaps the bride, a young French woman named Celine. Back in the tribe, in the middle of a feast, Celine will be saved by an unexpected protector: an Indian woman named Rosalila. The two women will run away together through the geography of the pampas. If the origin of the theater, the Greek tragedy, was proposed to found myths, this return to the origin of Argentine literature proposes to rethink national mythology, always marked by French positivist admiration and Latin American indigenous denial. Thus, Las cautivas is offered as a refoundation, as a metaphysics, as a nature, as pure fiction and as the desire to return to a place that we have definitely lost.

The cast consists of Laura Paredes and Lorena Vega, with Ian Shifres as a stage musician, also responsible for the original music and sound design; The artistic production is in charge of the Future Theater Company: Carolina Castro. The direction is in charge of Mariano Tenconi Blanco. This show is an integral production of the Buenos Aires Theater Complex.

One

A free version of the novel by Luigi Pirandello One, none and a hundred thousand, written and directed by Giampaolo Samà < /b>and with the performance of Miriam Odorico.

One is a voice that counts. The swing of a thought. A point of view, just one of the many possible ones from what could be any story, anyone's story. The pretext is a banal observation that comes from outside: the verification of an insignificant physical detail that becomes a unique and disturbing event to analyze the doubts of existence. Who I am? About us? How do others see us? How do I see them? How many characters are we? Abandon the hundred thousand masks to put on One. But the transformation hides a risk: in the search for the one we discover none. Pirandellian questions are more than ever present in this space/time that we have had to live. The identity questioned; our beliefs; the role we choose to play or the one imposed on us. And while reality fades, freedom is in the awareness of madness. Fleeing to save himself from the contradictions of the human mind. The attempt to rediscover a balance in the chaos.

Functions: Saturdays at at 20:30, until November 20.

Aktrissa Chayka, posthumous work by Claudio Gatell

Aktrissa Chayka (actress seagull in Russian) is the new one-man show for the award-winning Argentine playwright and actress Natalia Arteman. Together with the director Claudio Gatell (1964-2020) she created this universe inspired by the classic The Seagull by the writer Anton Chekhov . The aesthetics of the work, with references to oriental theater and Russian realism, prints the identity of Gatell between magic and darkness and Arteman exposes different nuances in each layer with great acting skills.

During the rehearsals Gatell had health complications. Natalia and Claudio had their last conversations and decisions about staging in the hospital gardens. The play accidentally became an analogy for their own feelings, which is why they defined it as an Ode to theatre.

Your Molotov tenderness

Victoria and Daniel are one of those couples that society sets as role models. She is a television channel presenter, he is a media lawyer. A call from abroad will make the past become present, like a bomb and nothing will be the same in your marriage. The sound library of women in Proyecto Prisma

Created by the Swiss playwright Julie Gilbert as a performance installation, the original proposal is an installation with old telephones through which the public circulates and chooses one to have a “conversation” with a writer of the collection.

The phone rings, someone picks up the tube and listens, for five minutes, to what a current playwright wrote “on behalf” of a former writer, performed live by an actress. An exercise of joint reflection between artists, specialists, the public and society that seek to enrich each other at the crossroads of gender issues, theater and literature.

For this adaptation of The women's sound library, digital and in Spanish, four “telephones” from the original collection were selected, translated, and four more from Argentine playwrights were added.

The eight “telephones” are performed live by contemporary Argentine actresses. The conversation is scheduled for free through the web agenda at Proyecto Prisma. Between July and October 2021 the public will be able to hold telephone conversations with the writers of the collection, through the interpretation of great Argentine actresses on texts by contemporary playwrights.

The “shows”—five-minute conversations—will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., the period in which each actress will make the calls. In total, there will be 1,000 calls in the four months of activations. Each call will last approximately seven minutes. The forms to schedule them are enabled fifteen days in advance.

What the girls want

Desire, pleasure, violence, and fear of what is different. Hasty decisions and unconsciousness mark fate, if any. The youthful lack of control at parties makes possible the meeting that almost always ends in tears. The narration also emphasizes the discrimination that exists in our country and the intolerance turned into aggression caused by the economic situation, race, gender and clothing. Feelings and differences are mixed. Prejudice, mandates and the clandestine. Losing your life becomes a possibility. Cumbias, ballads, synthesizers and bass drums. Poetry that metaphorizes and raw sadness of language make up the lyrics that do not let the imagination escape... because there are things that cannot be escaped. Because the odds aren't fair. Is "what the wachas want" always what they want?

Starring: Ornella Fazio, Luciano Crispi, Iti the beautiful one, Malena Ratner, Ignacio Pelaez and Martina Bajour; dramaturgy and direction: Mariana Cumbi Bustinza.

Performances: Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., until October 30. Value of the seats: $700, in theatrical alternative.

Two/ A scenic eulogy for love

“There is a numerical scheme typical of the love procedure that states that the Two fractures the One and experiences the infinity of the situation. One, two, infinity. Two/ A scenic praise for love for love is a project that is part of the production trajectory of the El Muererío Teatro Company, directed since 1996 by Diego Starosta. The appeal of Amparo

Ophelia imagines a trial against her mother. She is accused of having caused the early death of her other daughter, Elizabeth . The argument is that the disease that killed her was caused by Amparo's permanent doses of mistreatment of her daughters from their earliest childhood. But in this trial, in which the testimonies of different witnesses follow one another, not all opinions coincide. The subjective views on the facts, intertwine, disagree and collide with each other. Is there a truth? Or are there as many truths as looks? The Amparo appeal puts some on the table.

Gauchos from Salta. Living History, in the Historical Museum of the North

Gauchos from Salta. Living History. Genesis, Evolution and Present of the Gauchos of Salta is presented within the framework of the bicentennial of the death of General Martín Miguel de Güemes to honor those who fought for the liberation of these lands. The gaucho militia known as Los Infernales resisted the royalist advances from Upper Peru and, despite its key role in the conquest of Independence, it has been underappreciated for long periods of time.
