Vladimir Cerrón crosses his fingers not to return to jail

The former governor wants to travel to Honduras tomorrow to attend the inauguration of the new president.

Judge John Pillaca Valdez will evaluate tomorrow the Prosecutor's request for Vladimir Cerrón to serve preventive detention after having left Junín last December without having a judicial authorization, one of the measures that the owner of Peru Libre is obliged to abide by while is investigated for the Antalsis case.

This decision had to be made by Pillaca last week, but he postponed the hearing for this Wednesday because Cladette Chatpman, the defendant's lawyer, argued that she was not prepared for the defense because she had been notified with the request with little time to anticipation.

According to prosecutor Elard Alcócer Salas, the convicted former regional governor went to the Government Palace without permission on December 6, 2021 to hold a meeting with President Pedro Castillo on behalf of his political organization.

And not only that. Cerrón has required the Judiciary to leave the country on January 26, 27 and 28 to attend the inauguration of the elected president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya.

For Alcócer, the behavior of the former regional authority puts the investigation at risk since if he is granted authorization to travel to the Central American country, he could elude Peruvian justice and never return.

The accusation against Cerrón is clear. As governor of Junín (2011-2014), he would have taken advantage of his position to arrange and favor the Antalsis company and the Asia SAC Corporation, owned by Martín Belaunde Lossio, with the construction of the Comuneros and Identidad bridges.

In this way he would have defrauded the State with more than 26 million soles.

The anti-corruption prosecutor Javier Pacheco pointed out, in dialogue with Perú21 , that it would be appropriate for Cerrón Rojas to return to jail, this time for disobeying rules of conduct.

“He would have to go to an effective (prison) condition. If Mr. Cerrón is not complying with a rule that the Judiciary has imposed on him and today he has left without permission, the Public Ministry must control it, ”said Pacheco.

The former official has already been in prison. It happened in August 2019, when he was sentenced to four years in prison in Junín for the crime of incompatible negotiation. That time he was confined in the Huamancaca prison. However, in the second instance, the sentence varied and a suspended prison sentence was applied.

This newspaper tried to communicate with Cladette Chatpman to find out what defense she will use in the proceeding. But she did not answer the WhatsApp messages that were sent to her.

About this diligence, Cerrón himself complained on social networks because they are trying to prevent his trip to Honduras.

Keep in mind

-After December 6, Vladimir Cerrón returned to the Government Palace on January 7 of this year to meet with President Pedro Castillo.

-Although Castillo will not attend the assumption of command of the new president of Honduras, in his place will be the Minister of Women, Anahí Durand.

-Cerrón faces nine fiscal accusations, all for his management as governor of Junín.
