Diputació will exhibit this Christmas the ceramic nativity scene by Antonio Cordero donated to the Manises town hall

The Diputació de València will exhibit these Christmas holidays the Nativity scene by the ceramist Antonio Cordero, donated last year to the Manises City Council after a creative process that began with the return to the new normality after confinement.

The artist from Jaén, who has developed his artistic career in the municipality of l'Horta Sud, began the creation of this nativity scene in the middle of last year, made up of unique pieces conceived by hand, from modeling to decoration.

The president of the Diputació, Toni Gaspar, and the deputy for General Administration, Pilar Molina, have accompanied Antonio Cordero and his daughter Rosa this Friday on the visit to the Bethlehem, a visit open to the public from this end weekdays and which will continue during the Christmas holidays.

Precisely Rosa Cordero, the artist's daughter, participated in the restoration of the musical angels painted in the apse of the Cathedral of Valencia, a set chosen as a decorative motif on which the nativity scene is displayed.

President Gaspar highlighted “the passion for ceramics that emanates from this work”. And that is precisely what the ceramic artisan demonstrates, who combines the creation of his own pieces and collections with the dissemination of his technique in extracurricular activities in different schools and postgraduate courses at the Universitat Politècnica.

Jenense artist with artistic career in Manises

Antonio Cordero Herrera, born in 1953 in Pegalajar (Jaén), moved with his family to Valencia, where he began a new life marked by his artistic skills. In 1990, together with his wife, he created a family business dedicated to ceramic crafts, and later he worked as a ceramic painter until his retirement, until his relatives convinced him to give life to his own collections and paint larger pieces. elaborately modeled with clay.

In 2006, Cordero inaugurated the first of a long list of individual and collective exhibitions, under the title 'Cerámica de Manises'. And the Manisense ceramic is composed of the Nativity scene that can be visited at the headquarters of the Provincial Council, located, as fate would have it, in the Valencian Plaza Manises.
