Paterna reinforces itself against forest fires with a rapid intervention truck

VALENCIA, 26 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Paterna City Council (Valencia) continues to reinforce the fight against forest fires with the acquisition of a new rapid intervention truck.

The new equipment, acquired through the Guardian project, is made up of a trailer containing a 450-liter tank, a 14-horsepower engine, and two sections of 20-meter hose each.

This car would allow the rapid intervention of the forestry brigades and surveillance services in the event of a fire in the La Vallesa natural park, explains the council.

For the deputy mayor for Security, Nuria Campos, it represents further progress in the implementation of this project based on "resilience" and rapid intervention as fundamental tools in the extinction of possible fires in La Vallesa and the Natural Park of Turia.

The new cart can be towed by vehicles from the forestry brigade or surveillance and Civil Protection personnel to move quickly and support the extinction of possible fires.

In addition, the hoses have a foam concentrate system and flow-regulating lances to be more efficient in extinction tasks.

This truck, added to the new Civil Protection rapid intervention vehicle incorporated last year, allows one of the requirements of the local plan for the prevention of forest fires in Paterna to be met: having two pieces of equipment of this type to be more effective and fast in extinguishing possible fires.

Guardian, 80% financed by the EU and led by the municipalities of Paterna and Riba-Roja del Túria (Valencia) with the participation of Hidraqua, Cetaqua, Medi XXI, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Valencia , is the largest fire-fighting installation in Europe and the second in the world. The forecast is that it is completed in the first half of this year.
