A couple returns to Paris to finish honeymoon interrupted by the pandemic

The American couple Oscar Galeas and Stephany Novoa had to shorten their honeymoon in Europe due to COVID-19.This June 2021, they tried again, as part of an arrival of tourists who visit Paris as the pandemic takes a break.

"We are finishing our honeymoon," said Novoa on Friday, June 18, 2021, aboard a tourist boat in Paris while traveling the Seine and passed through the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower.

The flow of tourists to Paris, many of them from Asia and the United States, was almost complete.

Now, with the fall in infection rates, France is gradually reducing restrictions.A mandate has been eliminated that required people to use outdoor masks and the night curfew has been eliminated.

That has attracted some tourists, although the numbers are very low compared to the levels prior to the pandemic.

Alain Thevenet is the Bateaux Parisiens sales manager, who operates the tourist ships for SENA, and bets on a strong return.

As of July 1, the company will start operating its boats seven days a week.

"It's starting again and that's great," he said."It is encouraging to see the good weather and that there are many tourists in Paris: Americans, Spanish, Germans," he added.

Last year, Novoa and Galeas were in the first stage of their honeymoon in Amsterdam and had a flight reserved on March 14 to travel to Paris.

But the day they had to fly, the United States government declared COVID-19 a national emergency and imposed a prohibition of travel from Europe. The couple left the flight to Paris and returned home.

"Now we return," said Novoa aboard the boat."A year and a half later," added her husband.
