The 2022 actors union awards: these are the nominations

The Awards of the Hollywood actors union (SAG in English) were announced this Wednesday, January 12 by the actresses Vanessa Hudgens and Rosario Dawson through a live session on the Instagram account of the American Association.

The SAG nominations confirm that the academy awards of this year has a lot of stellar power.

On the big screen, the nominees for best male main actor are Will Smith ("King Richard"), Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Power of the Dog"), Denzel Washington ("The Tragedy of Macbeth"), Andrew Garfield ("Tick, Tick...Boom! ”) And Javier Bardem (“ Being The Ricardos ”).

In the film by Aaron Sorkin, Bardem makes the role of Desi Armaz, who goes through a crisis with his wife Lucile Ball, the pioneer television performer, a role embodied by Nicole Kidman.

The haute couture drama led by Ridley Scott, "House of Gucci", in which Gaga plays the ambitious Patrizia Reggiani, leads with two other nominations: better performance of a cast and actor Jared Leto classified in the best male performance categoryon secondary paper, for his role of the misunderstood designer Paolo Gucci.

Like Scott's film, "The Power of the Dog", a western and psychological drama directed by Jane Campion, also leads with three nominations.

Hispanic artist Ariana Debose is among those chosen to win the best cast actress for her interpretation in "West Side Story" by Steven Spielberg.In addition, Caitriona Balfe ("Belfast"), Cate Blanchett ("Nightmare Alley"), Kirsten Dunst ("The Power of the Dog") and Ruth Negga ("Passing") make up the rest of the nominees for said category.

The ruthless family drama "Succession" and the comedy "Ted Lasso" lead the list of nominations

As has happened in previous awards, the Netflix digital platform surprises again with its productions.The entertainment giant obtained the largest number of films nominations in the SAG, with seven in total, while HBO and HBO Max led the television field with 14 nominations.

The "Succession" and "Ted Lasso" series are the most nominated, with five categories each, as well as the South Korean Dark Drama "Squid Game", which obtained four nominations.

Among the nominees for the best male performance in miniseries or television film are: Murray Bartlett ("The White Lotus"), Oscar Isaac, ("Scenes from a Marriage"), Michael Keaton ("Dopesick"), Ewan McGregor ("Halston") And Evan Peters (" Mare of Easttown ").

In the same female category are: Jennifer Coolidge ("The White Lotus"), Cynthia Erivo, ("Genius: Aretha"), Margaret Qualley ("Maid"), Jean Smart, ("Mare of Easttown") and Kate Winslet ("Mare of Easttown").

The 2022 screen actors union awards are voted by members of the SAG-AFTRA actors union and are a thermometer that such a good performance will have the works cinematographic works in the Oscar awards in March.

The SAG awards are scheduled to be delivered on February 27 at a televised ceremony.
